We will have three master Comic Con threads going today! News/Tweets, Pictures, and Videos!
The “New Moon” panel at San Diego Comic-Con might not start for another 18 hours, but “Twilight” fans aren’t taking a chance on missing it!
The most dedicated fans started lining up two days early just to make sure they could get a front row seat to see Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart, Taylor Lautner and other stars of the movie. As the final
night before the big panel begins now, there are already more than 500 people camping out to attend the most anticipated panel at Comic-Con.
Aura Reynolds and Liberty Griffen nabbed the first spot in the long line by getting here Tuesday night at 9 p.m. with their daughters Rebecca and Kristen. Their yellow and blue tent marks the beginning of rows upon rows of tents, chairs and blankets that form the twisting line outside Hall H, where the panel takes place at 1:45 p.m. tomorrow. The landscape looks like a giant family picnic, with bright-colored folding chairs and sleeping bags littered with black Twilight T-shirts and banners.
Security has moved the line a few times already, making sure that in the morning, there will be some kind of order when the throngs of Twilight fanatics file into the panel. Although the campers have had to pick up their sleeping bags and blankets and move more than once, everyone’s in a great mood, knowing that Twilight fans everywhere wish they were here with us!
Now that it actually is “twilight,” which we all know is Edward’s favorite time of day, there’s a lot of buzz among the fans about just what we’re going to see tomorrow. When I asked a big group of people in line what they want to see in the new footage that director Chris Weitz promised for tomorrow’s panel, the leading answer was “the Volturi,” although a lot of the girls in line admitted they wouldn’t mind seeing more footage of Taylor Lautner without a shirt. With talk like that, it’s going to be difficult for any of us to get to sleep tonight!

Says RadarOnline, “2450 lucky ticket holders will fill all 15 theaters and will have the chance to see their fave vampire Edward Cullen as well as other cast members.”
RO also alluded to the fact that ticket-holders for the Comic-Con panel for The Twilight Saga: New Moon today have been standing, sleeping, eating, and living outside the stadium for hours waiting for the day to officially begin.
According to the Los Angeles Times, though, the line-holding practices have been a little controversial. They linked in this video of the discussion.

Greetings from San Diego, Twilighters! Your MTV Movies team has hit the ground running — and naturally, one of our first stops during Wednesday’s Comic-Con preview night was the Summit booth, home to the next “Twilight” movie.
Now, you might remember that last year’s booth was a bit — how shall we put this? — ; ess than eye-dazzling. It was Summit Entertainment’s first year at the world’s biggest comic convention, few outside the fandom had heard of “Twilight,” and the biggest attraction they had was a cardboard cut-out of Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart, available for photos.

Robert Pattinson is at Comic-Con. I’m sure it’s also nice for him, being able to being the same place as fans under a “controlled” situation.
Kristen Stewart has arrived as well, she’s wearing white pants and a white jacket.
Celebuzz’s Twitter is reporting that the whole New Moon cast will be at the panel!
Check Socialite Life throughout the day. We’ll be posting extensive coverage and all the photos we can get our hands on from Comic-Con as it comes in.

The Comic Con Feeds for the Press Conference failed across the board. However, New Moon Movie was able to get an important tidbit about Rob:
UPDATE4: “10:21 a.m. Pattinson says he has no musical contribution to “New Moon.”

Live blog from New Moon press conference from HitFix:
- 9:29 a.m. PT Excitement is building for me and 50+ of my closest friends. We’re all awaiting the start of Robert Pattinson, Taylor Lautner and Kristen Stewart’s joint Comic-Con press conference for “The Twilight Saga: New Moon.” We all know that if we don’t cover the heck out of this press conference, we won’t have any chance to write about “Twilight” at this Comic-Con.9:32 a.m. Well, no chance other than the Hall H panel — for which HitFix’s Greg Ellwood has been camped for hours — and the roundtable press conferences — set to be covered by HitFix’s Katie Hasty.9:35 a.m. Don’t worry. We’re really going to have “Twilight” coverage aplenty.9:46 a.m. The press conference has yet to start, but the throng of journalists milling around the microphones hoping to get the exact same pictures of Kristen, Robert and Taylor, is massive and growing antsy.9:47 a.m. Just a warning that WiFi in this room is not what I’d like it to be. I’m going to try to update regularly, but if I can’t, I’ll just update the story post-panel…9:51 a.m. Still no talent on the podium, but my tape recorder is there, meaning I’ll probably have three or four minutes of white noise (if I’m lucky) before anything happens.9:54 a.m. There are ground-rule. “We’re here to talk about the ‘Twilight Saga: New Moon.’” That means no personal questions.9:56 a.m. Taylor, Kristen and Robert arrive on stage. Kristen is in full-on Joan Jett mode, rave hair tussled. I’m not sure I’ve ever seen Rob’s hair look this conditioned.9:57 a.m. “I think last year Comic-Con was the big eye-opener for us,” Lautner says, expressing excitement at being back this year.9:58 a.m. “It would look probably pretty cheesy if it were just my voice, so they’ve done these hallucinations, semi-visible apparitions,” Pattinson says, explaining how he’s able to be in the movie when Edward is largely absent from the book.9:59 a.m. Proteins, good carbs and cut the sugars. That was Taylor Lautner’s secret to become the buff Taylor we see before us. That and months and months and months with a personal trainer.10:00 a.m. “There’s more to think about. It’s a more mature part. She’s older. She has more to deal with. Yeah. That’s it.” That’s how Stewart attempts to express how Bella is different this season.10:01 a.m. “I’d like to think that I haven’t changed that much. Within myself, I don’t think I’ve changed. When I’m walking down the street, I look down a lot more often,” Pattinson says, explaining how his life has changed. He adds, “It seems to keep building, the magnitutde of this franchise.”10:02 a.m. Lautner says he’s been so busy working and publicizing. “It’s crazy. None of us saw it coming. I don’t think any of us saw it coming.”10:03 a.m. How has Stewart changed? “I cut my hair off.”10:04 p.m. Lautner’s grateful to the fans, “It’s awesome that we get to see them all waiting for us again a year later.”10:05 a.m. “I pretty much live an almost identical life apart from being recognized and that’s not necessarily the worst thing in the world.” He adds, “I never did anything normal anyway. I just get other people to do it now.”10:06 a.m. “Sometimes it gets me nervous because I’m trying to live up to the fans expectations and represent Team Jacob in the right way.” – Lautner on Team Jacob.10:07 a.m. Don’t worry. The stars all reassure us that Edward is in the movie plenty. You won’t miss him.
10:09 a.m. “I thought they did a pretty good job with the wolf transformation… The werewolves definitely step up the action in this movie. There’s double the action in this movie,” Lautner promises. He adds, “There’s also the beginning of a love triangle.”
10:10 a.m. Taylor and Kristen both have fond memories of their “breakup” scene, which was shot in 35 degrees with artificial rain. “That was bad and I wasn’t really wearing much,” Taylor says.
10:12 a.m. “I think my breakup scene was my favorite scene,” Pattinson says of the five-page dialogue sequence that’s distanced from the other supernatural aspects in the story. “Hopefully it will come off as having quite a few more levels than the relationship in ‘Twilight.’”
10:13 a.m. Why do people love “Twilight” so much? “I think a lot of the characters are very relatable,” Taylor says. Stewart praises the first-person narrative. This isn’t what the reporter wants. He wants to know why kids love vampires. “The problem is that when I look at it, I never look at it as a vampire story,” Pattinson responds, saying he tries to ignore the vampire element as much as he can.
10:15 a.m. Which of the novels resonates best for the cast as readers? Taylor’s favorite book is “Eclipse” — “The action levels continue to build in this series,” Lautner notes, also raving at the advancing love triangle. Stewart stands up for “New Moon,” explaining “I feel like after ‘New Moon’ it’s pretty smooth sailing for her.” And Pattinson also salutes “New Moon.” Kristen and Robert both remember the movie they’re here to promote!
10:18 a.m. “Everyone looks at Edward as the hero and he’s being continually saved by the damsel-in-distress,” Pattinson says.
10:19 a.m. A reporter asks what question they never want to answer again. “What’s it like kissing Taylor Lautner,” Pattinson jokes.
10:19 a.m. “To growl… Actually, I’m asked that more by fans. They ask me to grown for them and I actually don’t enjoy doing that,” Taylor warns.
10:20 a.m. “You can ask me anything you want,” Stewart says. It’s true! She just won’t answer.
10:22 a.m. Bob Stencil shows up. He asks if there are sparks between Kirsten and Robert off-camera. He’s cut-off and told they were told not to ask those questions.
10:21 a.m. Pattinson says he has no musical contribution to “New Moon.”
10:22 a.m. And that’s it, sports fans.

Robert Pattinson on how New Moon is Different from Twilight;
It wasn’t just the director that made this one different. IT was different because we kind of knew what animal we were dealing with now and I was much more a supporting role in this one. I started three weeks after we started shooting and my first scenes were the apparition scenes which involved me doing maybe one word a week. …. I had a pretty much stress free job of three months. It was great for me. All the pressure was on Taylor.
IT looks aesthetically so different .the script was different. It’s a different mood.
Robert Pattison on his favorite scene in New Moon;
I think my breakup scene was my favorite scene. Hopefully it will come off as having quite a few more levels than the relationship in Twilight. I hope – - it was interesting. It’s a five page long dialogged scene [which is more than I ever had in the first one]. It’s an interesting moment that completely bypasses all the supernatural elements of the story as well.

Pattinson had a different take on the franchise’s rabid fans, acknowledging up front that “there’s no pleading ignorance [with the press] now. You actually have to have something to say.”
So what did the cast have to say?
For starters, none of them had seen the completed film yet. Additionally, journalists were warned by Summit Entertainment head of PR Vivian Mayer-Siskind at the outset not to even think about asking questions about the reported romance between Pattinson and Stewart.
But mustached online personality and Comic-Con vet Bob Stencil did anyway: “What’s the off-screen chemistry like, Rob and Kristen?” The actors didn’t have time to open their mouths before Mayer-Siskind shut that down.
The stars did divulge that Edward would be much more of a presence in “New Moon” than he is in the book, which follows the the character’s breakup with Bella. He leaves her early in the novel and reappears only in the final fifth of the book.
“He’s in it!” Stewart said as if to reassure skeptics. In “New Moon,” Bella begins hearing Edward’s voice after he leaves. In the movie, she’ll see him as well.
“It would look probably pretty cheesy if it were just my voice, so they’ve done these hallucinations, semi-visible apparitions,” Pattinson said.
“It’s a severely emotional movie,” Stewart said, as if to explain why she stuck with the teen franchise.
Both she and Pattinson have participated only in select press interviews for the film, thus far.
“I like it best just in terms of how far I was able to push myself this time,” she added. “It’s not about discovery or falling in love. It’s, like, low. Bella is a manic depressive, basically.
“After ‘New Moon,’ it’s pretty much smooth sailing for her,” Stewart said.
Pattinson couldn’t pinpoint the drawing power of vampire stories. “When I play it, I try and eliminate the vampire element as much as I can,” he said. Yet he added that they obviously had “some sort of power.”
“I found myself bizarrely invested in the ‘Twilight’ story after my first audition — and I hadn’t even read the books yet,” he said.
Here’s the New Moon panel live blog from G4:

Stephen Johnson: Summit Panel is Live! Get ready for Astro Boy, Twilight New Moon and Sorority Row news, people! Rock and/or Roll!
1:53
Stephen Johnson: First off: Astro Boy. This CGI treatment of a Japanese classic cartoon will inspire and delight. Do I sound like a press release?
1:54
Stephen Johnson: Astro Boy news: Charlize Theron and Samuel L. Jackson just announced as voice talent for the film.
1:54
Stephen Johnson: To answer a reader’s question: The Twilighters are VERY loud and have high pitched, squeaky voices!
1:58
Stephen Johnson: Sorority Row stars take the stage. They are very attractive, including Rumer Willis… and that girl from The Hills. This movie is a remake of 1980s slasher flick The House on Sorority Roll…. It’s bad source material, but hey, who doesn’t love a slasher flick.
1:58
Stephen Johnson: We’re checking out the trailer now… it’s got an “I Know What You Did Last Summer” vibe to it.
2:00
Stephen Johnson: To answer some readers’ question: Sadly, there are no video feeds of these panels available. Youll have to rely on my words.
2:00
Stephen Johnson: They are getting right to the Twilight material… The crowd is screaming like it’s the Beatles in 1964. It’s really amazing. Nothing has happened yet, though…
2:01
Stephen Johnson: Just the mention of the word “Twilight” is enough to get people howling at the top of their lungs.
2:01
Stephen Johnson: I’m deaf now.
2:03
Stephen Johnson: The cast is being introduced. Kristen Stewart is here, and Robert Pattinson
2:05
Stephen Johnson: The director, Chris Weitz, is here
2:06
Stephen Johnson: Taylor Lautner talks about Jacob Black’s transformation. “He transforms mentally and emotionally, but the hardest was the physical transformation.”
2:06
Stephen Johnson: “I hope you’re pleased when you see the results,” Lautner says. I think the fangirls will be very, very pleased.
2:08
Stephen Johnson: Robert Pattinson says machines do his acting for him. Hmm.
2:09
Stephen Johnson: Special treat for the fans: A clip!
2:10
Stephen Johnson: Radio silence for the clip. Sorry.
2:12
Stephen Johnson: Uh oh…Jacob took off his shirt in the clip and the fans went nuts-o-crazy-go-nuts.
2:13
Stephen Johnson: Fan: Question for Robert Pattinson: Are you going to do any comedy in the future? Rob: I’m not that funny… I can look like an idiot, but I don’t know if I can be witty.
2:15
Stephen Johnson: Fan: What part of you did you have to being out to portray you characters? Answer (Ashley Green) There’s a really intense bond that she has with her family, and I have a bond with my family, so I use that. Kristen: She’s everywhere. Talk about mood swings. But she doesn’t explain herself.
2:16
Stephen Johnson: Taylor: I’m more like Jacob’s pre-transformation side.
2:16
Stephen Johnson: Rob Pattison is up next, to talk about his character.
2:17
Stephen Johnson: Pattinson: “I look a bit like him.”
2:18
Stephen Johnson: Fan (dressed as Dracula): How can I be a better Dracula? Best question ever, but they don’t answer it. See, the questioner may have been pulling some sort of prank, and Twilight is serious business.
2:19
Stephen Johnson: Fan to Rob: Would you ever do open-mic nights for music, ever again? Rob: Yes. I’d love to do it again. It’s good for your soul.
2:20
Stephen Johnson: Fan: Have you seen the New Moon trailer fan reaction videos? And are you afraid? A (director) we’ve seen them, and we can’t be more pleased and tickled…some are very intense in their reactions, and I don’t want to get them mad by doing anything wrong.
2:21
Stephen Johnson: Fan: How is filming in Portland different than Vancouver? A: (Kristen Stewart) There’s a ton more fans now than back then.
2:23
Stephen Johnson: According to the director, there were so many fans in Italy, it became a logistical problem.
2:24
Stephen Johnson: Fan: for Taylor, how was it filming in different weather conditions, half-naked? Taylor: It was cold. There was a day when I was only wearing jean shorts (Cheers from crowd.) It was really really cold, but I’m doing it all for you guys!
2:25
Stephen Johnson: Fan: What was the funniest moment in filming New Moon. Director: I grew attached to having a stick on hand like Gandalf. That was the most unintentionally funny moment.
2:28
Stephen Johnson: Fan: What are you most looking forward to in the upcoming films? Kristen: I’m excited about this intense fight scene we’re supposed to have.Taylor Lautner: The sleeping bag scene.
2:30
Stephen Johnson: Fan: What’s it like working with a different director? How were the 2 directors different? Rob: I liked it. I was a supporting role in this one. Chris (the director) is a seemingly peaceful person, so it was smooth sailing. I knew what I wa doing in this one more than the last one.
2:30
Stephen Johnson: Taylor: He keeps calm. We’re having a great time on set, not stressing at all.
2:34
Stephen Johnson: Fan: Were there any injuries in filming? Chris Weitz: Kristen hurt her ankle, but ther were no deaths. I’m proud that there were no deaths… i wish I could tell you more exciting stories of injuries. I will tell you that Taylor did every single stunt he could get his hands on, except the ones the insurance companies said he couldn’t do.
2:35
Stephen Johnson: Fan (for Ashley) How was it working with the rest of the cast? We all got along. I learned a lot from working with all the different people?
2:36
Stephen Johnson: A fan wants to know how Taylor works out. He says he put on weight for his role, but was over-working himself burning more calorie than he took on.
2:37
Stephen Johnson: I should point out that all questions are interupted by screams of “I love you!” and “You’re awesome!” and “wooo!” at random.
2:38
Stephen Johnson: Robert talks about how is life has become analagous to swimming without drowning.
2:39
Stephen Johnson: The director, Chris Weitz says his last film was, basically, messed up by the studio. Not sure what movie he means… maybe Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist?
2:41
Stephen Johnson: I think the Twighlight: New Moon saga is coming to a close, people… but, before we wrap up, each cast member is talking about the size and scope of the new movie vs. the old one.
2:42
Stephen Johnson: Chris Weitz: The book expands massively from the first to the second. So the key thing was to keep that all cohereent and faithful to the book. To make something grand and beautiful out of this book.
:42
Stephen Johnson: Rob: Edward’s who character is about restraint, so I always found it difficult to move as the character. So in the new movie, a lot of the shots are set up so that I can move as little a possible. The camera moves more often.
2:43
Stephen Johnson: Rob: the camera movement is moer fluid in the new movie. So even the fight scene I’m in at the end is balletic.
2:44
Stephen Johnson: Taylor: When we were making Twilight, we didn’t know the reaction we were going to get. So we’re really thankful for the reaction we got.
2:45
Stephen Johnson: The cast here is definitely stressing that the new movie will stick close to the book. Twilight fans are notorious for stressing the importance of this!
2:46
Stephen Johnson: Ashley says she was more comfortable in her own skin in this movie. A lot less nervous… She says the fans have really embraced them.
2:46
Stephen Johnson: Chris Weitz is going to show another scene! The fans go insane.
2:47
Stephen Johnson: First time this footage has been shown outside of the editing room,.
2:49
Stephen Johnson: The onscreen appearance of Edward (taking off his shirt, natch, destroys all decorum and civility in the room. It’s roar of epic proportions to end the panel. The fans literally rush the stage… There is no riot, however.
2:50
Stephen Johnson: And thus ends the Summit panel. I hope you enjoyed. Keep tuned to G4tv.com/comiccon for all the Con happenings.
Question: How does it feel for all three of you to be back at ComiCon this year
Lautner: It’s good. It’s exciting. I think last year ComiCon was the big eye opener for us and so it’s awesome to be back and embrace all of our fans again for everything they’ve done this past year.
Question: In the book, even though you leave Bella you’re very much an integral part of her thoughts. I know that can be a challenge to represent onscreen. How did you and director Chris Weitz try to accomplish this?
Pattinson: Well, it’s through a kind of process. It’s just a voice. Edward’s just a voice in the book, and so I guess it would look pretty cheesy if it were just my voice. They’ve done these hallucinations, these semi-visible apparitions.
Stewart: It’s suggestive. It’s how she remembers him, not necessarily how he actually is.
Question: Taylor, can you talk about Jacob’s transformation in this movie and your personal transformation that you had to go through to play the role?
Lautner: Yeah, okay. When I was filming ‘Twilight’ I knew that Jacob’s character changed a lot so if I wanted to continue portraying him correctly I had a lot of work ahead of myself. So as soon as I finished filming ‘Twilight’ I started hitting the gym. I got a personal trainer. I started eating a lot of food, good food of course; proteins, good carbs, cut the sugars. It was a lot of work but it was definitely worth it.
Question: Kristen, in the ‘Twilight’ series Bella’s story arc really starts to develop in ‘New Moon’, in the second book and film. She becomes an active protagonist. Was it more difficult to prepare for this role this time around or vice versa?
Stewart: I wouldn’t say that one was more difficult than the other. This is a severely emotional movie. That’s the one big difference. This movie is not about discovery or falling in love which is sort of just an intense emotion but this is like low and there high points for her, too. She’s a manic depressive basically. To have a character be able to pull her out of that, it’s a hefty feat which I think we pulled off. But for me, like, I don’t know. There was no difference. It was just sort of heavier and it was more to think about. It’s a more mature part strictly because she’s older and she has more to deal with.
Question: Can you talk a little bit about how your lives have changed since we saw you here last summer?
Pattinson: I don’t know. I’d like to think that I haven’t changed that much. Within myself I don’t think I’ve changed. I think I look down a lot. There’s something wrong with my neck [laughs]. No. It is, it’s kind of extraordinary. I don’t think that any of us expected any of this to happen and especially that it seems to keep building and building, the magnitude of this franchise. ComiCon really was the eye opener and it’s just kind of gotten bigger and bigger. It’s an interesting thing to deal with.
Lautner: I think that another thing that’s changed for me that’s kind of obvious is that the schedule has gotten really, really busy doing publicity and working on other things. It’s crazy. None of us saw it coming and since last year it’s definitely been a ride for all of us.
Stewart: I cut my hair off. Yeah.
Question: What would say have been the highs and the lows of this whole experience?
Stewart: Well, this is definitely a high. I mean, there’s only been a couple of images from the movie that have been released and they’ve all been received really well. So I’m really excited for people to see some of it. It’s a little overwhelming to have so many people here, but I guess that’s a good.
Lautner: It’s awesome because this is our opportunity to come out and thank our fans for everything that they’ve done for us and for ‘Twilight’. We get to embrace them again. We’re so thankful for them. So it’s awesome that we get to see them all waiting for us, again, a year later with the same, if not, actually definitely more amount of passion and dedication. So it’s really exciting. I’m a little nervous but it’s good.
Pattinson: I don’t know. I still think it’s still so young, to me, anyway. I can’t claim anything to be a low. I pretty live an almost identical life apart from being recognized. That’s not exactly the worst thing in the world.
Question: With all the attention and all the paparazzi following you how do you manage to get anything normal done in your everyday life?
Pattinson: I never do anything normal anyway. I just get other people to do it now [laughs].
Question: How does this massive embracing of Team Edward and Team Jacob plays into your performances?
Lautner: I think that everything is kind of crazy about this franchise and that’s why we love it so much and that’s why the fans do as well. But yeah, there definitely a lot of fans who are on the two separate teams. I don’t know. I mean, sometimes it gets me a little nervous because I’m trying to live up to the fan’s expectations and trying to represent Team Jacob in the right way. I don’t want to disappoint them so that’s why I worked so hard to not only mentally and emotionally but physically change as well for this role because this guy is some pretty good competition. So I’ve done a lot of hard work.
Question: How did you guys address that fact that Robert’s not in this film as much as ‘Twilight’ which might be disappointing to fans?
Stewart: He’s in it a lot.
Pattinson: They won’t be disappointed either. I just watched a clip which they’re going to play later, and like, people will forget immediately [?]…’Why is he wasting our time?’
Pattinson: If he doesn’t go you can’t miss him and that’s what this whole movie is about, that like empty, completely dark place where Edward is absent.
Lautner: If he was absent they would miss him very deeply.
Question: Rob, the experience of working with a new director and the vibe on set, how has it been this time around on what’s a whole new project?
Pattinson: I mean, it wasn’t just the director that made this one different. It was so different as well because we kind of knew what type of animal that we were dealing more. I was much more of a supporting role in this one. I started three weeks after they started shooting and I did a lot of my first scenes doing the apparition scenes. That’s a lot of me doing maybe one word. It was actually one of the most relaxing jobs that I’ve ever done. Chris has a really peaceful presence and I got on really well with him. I had a pretty much stress free job for three months. It was great for me. All the pressure was on Taylor [laughs].
Question: Taylor, when you see the trailer for the first time and watch yourself morph, what goes through your mind? You turn into a fan, I’m sure.
Lautner: I don’t know. I thought that they did a pretty good job with the wolf transformation. I’m excited that there are werewolves involved now because the werewolves definitely step up the action in the movie. There is double the action in this movie than there was before and there’s also a different dynamic. Now it’s not just this romance between a human girl and a vampire, but it’s the beginning of a love triangle and so that’s exciting.
Question: How much of the final film have you guys seen and what was your feeling after seeing what you’ve seen so far?
Stewart: We’ve only seen the clips that they’re going to show today. We saw them this morning.
Lautner: Yeah, we’ve seen just about as much as the fans have seen.
Question: Are you anxious to see the final movie then?
Stewart: I think it’s a different kind of anxious, but yeah, definitely.
Pattinson: It looks aesthetically very different. The script was very different. It’s a completely different mood. So I’m really interested to see how it works out.
Question: Do you have a favorite scene from this film that stands out as your favorite one to shoot and why?
Stewart: Well, your favorite scene didn’t turn out to be your favorite.
Lautner: Oh, right. I have a lot of favorite scenes so that’s a really difficult question for me. I like a lot of the cool action scenes I get to do because I just had a lot of fun with those. Anyway [laughs], my original favorite scene was a really small scene that I just thought was kind of cute.
Stewart: What was it?
Lautner: It was the scene where I walk her up to her door and say goodbye to her and I’m going off to fight in the woods and she’s worried. She’s scared for me. I thought that it was kind of cute, but I also like the breakup scene.
Stewart: Yeah, that’s my favorite scene in the movie. We call it a breakup scene because he basically tells her that they can’t be friends anymore and he’s transforming. If you ever, ever treated me like that you would kill me.
Lautner: It was also painful to shoot because it was thirty five degrees and we were poured rain on, rain tower rain which is straight from the spring.
Lautner: Yeah, it was bad.
Question: Rob, do you have a favorite scene or moment?
Pattinson: I think my breakup scene was my favorite scene. I mean, hopefully it’ll come off as having quite a few more levels than the relationship in ‘Twilight’. It was interesting. It was like a five page long dialogue scene. That didn’t happen at all in the first one and it’s quite an interesting little moment. It completely bypasses all the supernatural elements of the story, as well, which I found quite interesting.
Question: Why do you think people embrace these stories now, the themes, the characters, the subject, the darkness, the romance?
Stewart: I don’t know. That’s the most common question and we get that all the time.
Lautner: I think a lot of the characters are relatable and there are so many different ones and people can relate to different characters and their experiences.
Stewart: It’s just like anything else, like any movie. You could say that about anything, you relate to the characters. I always say that it’s because it’s first person narrative and you’re so very much inside of her head that it’s like – I don’t know – closer to home. You feel like it’s not happening to someone else. You feel like it’s sort of happening to you. What do you think? Out with it.
Question: Can you talk about why teenagers love vampires?
Pattinson: I think we’re the worst people to ask about it. I don’t know, the problem is that when I looked at it I never looked at it as a vampire story, right from the beginning. When I try to play it I try to eliminate the vampire element as much as I can and just kind of see it as a tool to make their relationship a little more fraught. Right after the audition I found myself kind of bizarrely invested in the story and I hadn’t even read the books at that point. I’ve kind of gotten more and more attached to it. I’ve been talking about the script for ‘Eclipse’ to people over the last few weeks and I find myself getting very argumentative which I’m not usually. They definitely have some kind of power.
Question: Which of the novels resonates the most for you as a reader or as an actor and which are you most enthused about working in?
Lautner: My favorite book was actually ‘Eclipse’. I’m pretty excited that, yeah, it’s gotten action. The action levels continue to build in this series. So I think that I enjoy that but also the fact that ‘Twilight’ sets up the romance between Bella and Edward and then Bella and Jacob’s friendship grows in ‘New Moon’. But in ‘Eclipse’ it’s actually the three of them physically together and we have to team up and make this decision to try and be friends to protect her. I think that is like the ultimate high point of the series where it’s the love triangle in ‘Eclipse’. So I’m excited to get going.
Stewart: I liked ‘New Moon’ just in terms of how far I can push myself within the series. I feel like after ‘New Moon’ it’s sort of smooth sailing for her. She’s very, very solid and content and happy. But in the second one she’s nothing, literally just lost. I got to find her again. But yeah, the second one for sure.
Pattinson: I think that ‘New Moon’ was my favorite book as well mainly because I like the juxtaposition of all sudden people being…it’s such a hyped character, Edward, and there are so many people looking at him like a romantic hero. In ‘New Moon’, the way that I read it anyway, he’s just so humbled. It’s a character who’s looking at Bella and thinking that he loves something too much but he can’t be around. He deliberately starts breaking up their relationship which I think is a very relatable thing and I think is very kind of painful. Yeah, the fight sequence at the end, Bella ends up saving Edward as she does in every single one of the books. So it’s really funny how everyone looks at Edward as the hero and he’s been continuously saved by the damsel in distress. I think he really realizes that in ‘New Moon’. ‘Eclipse’ is really him trying to catch up with Jacob because he’s so out of the loop and he can’t speak in superlatives anymore. He’s accepted being who he is and he needs to catch up to Jacob. So I always liked ‘New Moon’.
Question: Will each of you tell me the one ‘Twilight’ question that you never want to answer again?
Pattinson: What’s it like kissing Taylor Lautner.
Lautner: To growl. Actually, I get asked that more by fans. They ask me to growl for them and I really don’t enjoy doing that [laughs]. So that’s for the fans. Please, don’t ask me to growl. Just wait for the movie.
Stewart: You can ask me anything you want.
Question: Kristen and Robert, you have great chemistry on film romantically. Is there any chemistry off camera?
Stewart: We talked about not going to personal questions. So why don’t we ask the next one.
Question: Robert, should we expect to listen to any of your songs in the movie? Did you read ‘Midnight Sun’, the book that tells the story through Edward’s perspective?
Pattinson: Yes. That was more in relation to ‘Twilight’. It was more literally what the entire storyline was in ‘Twilight’ just from Edward’s perspective. I haven’t really looked too much at that for ‘New Moon’ because for whatever reason I could connect a lot more to ‘New Moon’ than I could to ‘Twilight’. But I could connect with it. I don’t think I’ve really used that much. I guess it’s kind of gotten in.
Question: And any musical contributions from you in ‘New Moon’?
Pattinson: No.

Being preemptive always bites the journalist in the butt, and of course immediately after our New Moon post went live, Chris Weitz showed the (almost) reunion scene between Bella and Edward and Italy.
And it was beautiful.
Proving that Taylor Lautner being shirtless is old news, the fan screams at Robert Pattinson’s Edward Cullen removing his shirt to incite a response from the Volturi nearly drowned out the sound of scene being shown. And it looks like Taylor wasn’t the only “New Moon” cast member hitting the gym: as the fan behind me repeatedly stated, “You can’t fake that definition.” RPattz has finally got his set of abs.
The scene showed Bella and Alice driving up in Alice’s famous yellow Porsche to stop Edward from revealing himself in the sunlight and causing the Volturi to kill him. Bella runs through a festival going on in Italy to try to stop Edward. Of course the scene ended before Edward saw Bella and they have their long awaited reunion, but the camera work and cinematography was breathtaking, showing a big step up from “Twilight.” Of course, being on location in Italy might have helped.
Chris Weitz needs to create more films not based on religion and relying on CGI. “New Moon” looks like it could actually be really, really good. Guess we’ll just have to wait until November 20 to know for sure.

Pel attended the New Moon Press Conference with Kallie of Twilight Seires Theories and Kimmy of His Golden Eyes. We got to the designated spot (which was kept an uber secret) at about 8:00. Once our press credentials and names on the list were confirmed, we managed to get in and to get a seat in the second row. The first row was reserved from photographers only. Everyone from fansites, to Rotten Tomatoes, to Boarders Media, you name it was there.
They established a few ground rules to start (which comes into play later) they were basically: front row photographers only, no flash during the discussion panel but photo op before and after, and limit questions to the movie New Moon itself not their personal lives or other projects.
So, as we were waiting, Pel saw Steve AKA “Capone” from Ain’t It Cool News. Pel had met Steve back in Chicago at the Flashback Weekend convention and they swapped this year vs. last year Twilight Saga Comic Con stories. One of the things Steve and Pel both agreed on is that Twilight is now a bigtime, mainstream studio franchise. The press set up was way different. Last year it was more like trying to get people to cover it, this year it’s who made the list. Pel said, “Well, it’s graduated from being ‘The Little Indie Movie That Could’.
Eventually Kristen, Tayor, and Rob came in about 20 seconds of space in between them. What was really funny is the cameras zoomed in on Tayor and Kristen right away. It took them a second to realize Rob was about 10 feet away and because of how Taylor and Kristen were initially standing there wasn’t room for Rob to stand next to them. Rob looked on amused that no one seemed to realize right away that he was there (don’t worry in about 10 seconds the media caught on) and then Taylor and Kristen looked like “Where’s Rob?” realized the problem and nudged over.
After that the panel discussion began. Rob seemed truly jet lagged but managed a couple of funny one liners like when asked by an LA TV Station “What question did he never want to be asked again?” He responded, “I don’t know, what is it like to kiss Taylor Lautner.” The room cracked up but Taylor didn’t hear the answer at first because he was saying something to Kristen. He had this hillarious “hmm obviously I missed something” look on his face and then just went to the million dollar smile and everyone cracked up again. The same question was then posed to Tayor and Kristen.
Taylor said that he really doesn’t ever want to be asked to growl again. A lot of fans ask him to growl when they meet him and he really doesn’t enjoy growling on command.
Kristen thought about it and said, ‘There nothing really, you could ask me anything.” (Mind you she clearly meant regarding the movie filming.)
So then they announce two more questions and the last question goes to a guy goes to every press conference dressed in a bad brown 1970’s suit, his tie pulled down, shirt untucked, avaitor sunglasses, and a retro-mustache that rivaled Billy Burke’s. With all the media in the room they somehow gave a question to this guy and it was the last question. This is a guy whose website is focused on satire, edgy stuff that pokes fun at the entertainment business. Nothing wrong with that, not like it pretends to be anything other than that. We don’t really know what the team was thinking when they gave him a question, it’s kind of like assuming the rep from the Howard Stern show would ask a legit question.
So what does he ask…words to the effect of “You guys have such great on screen chemistry. Anything going on off screen? The reaction was predicable the entire rest of the press lets out groans, explicative, eye rollage. Taylor, Kristen, and Rob looked at him like he had lost his mind. Fortunately they let someone else ask a final question.
Pel is editing the footage and should have it up shortly as well as some behind the scenes items.
