As if a teaser and one full-length trailer weren’t enough to cause eager “Twilight” fans to salivate, Summit Friday premiered yet another preview of the highly anticipated upcoming installment in the vampire series “Eclipse.” On “Oprah,” no less.

We’d heard the Web rumors that early test screenings of the film didn’t play well because many found the story to be too dark, leading to recent re-shoots. There’s no way to know how much truth there is to those rumors, but it certainly makes sense given this new footage, which seems pretty dark in its own right.

This go-round, there’s also a lot more dialogue and plot reveals. The trailer starts out with Jacob (Taylor Lautner) approaching Edward (Robert Pattinson) and Bella (Kristen Stewart) to “warn” his love interest about something that “she has a right to know.”

Then, instead of Edward and Bella in the flower-filled field, we have a screaming Jacob [UPDATE: Or is it Riley? We can't tell.] running down an ominous street in the rain before he gets cut, or maybe hit. We can’t tell, but it looks dark and unpleasant. There is general mayhem in the streets – burning cars, fistfights. What the heck is going on here? Again, for non-franchise die-hards, a lot of this stuff is confusing.

Apparently, someone is creating an “army of vampires,” declares Peter Facinelli’s creepy-looking character, as he recruits Jacob and his gang of werewolves. What follows is a montage of action scenes accompanied by that intense kind of classical music. The whole trailer leads us to believe there’s going to be a lot more fighting than dreamy vampire-loving, which may bode a little better for the male fans the franchise is trying to hook — but doesn’t bode quite as well for the women looking to get a glimpse of more Lautner and R-Patz shirtlessness.

And we’d be remiss not to mention the CGI here, which is difficult to tolerate even in the trailer. The wolves look so hokey and fake, and they’re made even worse by the slow motion.

Just got back from the best polo lesson ever and my inbox is full of Twi-Hard. Apparently there’s some drama with the new Eclipse trailer that was just screened on Oprah today..?. I’m not about to break this sh-t down by the second because, well, please, that’s Twi-Hard territory. But there are a few very interesting gossip angles to examine.

First – a trailer is usually 2 minutes and 30 seconds which puts this… teaser…whatever… a full minute short. The film drops on June 30th. A final cut should be delivered by the end of May. At this point then they should have more than enough footage for a full 2 and a half minutes. So what’s up?

As I reported exclusively a couple of weeks ago, the crew and a few actors are expected to return to Vancouver for 3 days to reshoot – or “pick-up” – a few scenes. Whatever. Not that those two points are related. Not at all…what? A short trailer means nothing. Everything is fiiiiine. David Slade’s vision of Eclipse is fiiiiine. It’s a zombie movie!

Doesn’t it look like a zombie movie?

There was an awful lot of evil vampire team action, non? In fact, there was an awful of Xavier Samuel. He plays Riley. Riley is in, like, maybe 3 scenes in the book. But Riley seems like a big deal in the trailer. A bigger deal than Edward.

Oh…..

And there’s the problem. This explains why the Twi-Hards are freaking out. Where is the love, guy? Where is the mooning? Why isn’t Robert Pattinson looking all pretty and tortured and kissing? Where is the cheese?

There was some cheese. Taylor Lautner’s delivery of that “you’re in danger, girl” message was pretty cheese. And whenever Ashley Greene opens her mouth it’s cheese too. Overall though, under Slade’s direction, the cheese has been remarkably scaled back…

A cheese-free Twilight?

Blasphemy.

This explains the panic.

Because these losers want to go to the movies and spend two hours watching Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart dry humping each other. After all, that’s the original story: 500 pages of blue balls. Slade was working on a potentially campy and enjoyable horror movie. That works for me. But does it work for them?

It certainly doesn’t work for Cynthia who emailed earlier. Cynthia is quite distraught:

I know you don’t care about Twilight but the fans do! Did you see the trailer? It’s terrible and I hate it so much! Not 1 kiss and they don’t talk about Bella and Edward’s relationship. In Eclipse is when Bella made her choice to be with Edward because he is the One. That is the story I fell in love with and changed my life. Do I have to care about stupid Zavier Samuels? I don’t care!!!!! F-ck you David Slade. F-ck you Lainey. They will change this for the fans so don’t even bother blog about this, we already know!

Here are Anna Kendrick and Nikki Reed at the Us Weekly Hot Hollywood party last night. Am all over Anna’s dress. It’s quirky, it’s fresh, it’s not for everyone but it’s definitely for her. But the hair. Not the hair.

Reed on the other hand has had dressing problems for a while now. This is a stagette dress. It’s a Woo Girl dress. It’s a cheap looking dress. Beautiful girl, terrible taste.

PS. I’m always accused of smacking too hard on Pattinson. How’s this? In that brief moment when he’s giving Kristen Stewart a ring (?) and looking at her, um, tenderly… yes, he is very handsome there. But I hate the word tender. It’s a gag word.

Makeout Spot: On her bed, in “Twilight”

Though this kiss was the realization of many a tween dream, we still can’t get over the yuckiness of their heaving breaths. Get a(nother) room, you two!

The new “Eclipse” trailer has hit the Internet on Oprah.com more than four and a half hours earlier than those of us on the East Coast expected to see it, which means “Twilight” fans are likely to have watched it at least a dozen times already.

Unlike the first teaser, this trailer features many of the much-hyped “Eclipse” moments fans and the cast has been buzzing about for months: particularly scenes of the newborn vampires and the final battle. Everyone will end up having their favorite moments in the trailer, but here are the five scenes we think are key:

Riley Becomes a Vampire

The scene in which Riley (Xavier Samuel) gets attacked by Victoria (Bryce Dallas Howard) and turned into a vampire flashes by fairly quickly as Edward (Robert Pattinson) explains to Bella (Kristen Stewart) about the newborn army growing in Seattle. But these few seconds are interesting because they show that director David Slade’s version of vampire transformation is more traditional, edgy and less comical than the way Catherine Hardwicke portrayed it in “Twilight.” It’s also nice to see that Slade will be showing the events in Seattle that were merely referred to from afar in the novel.

Newborn Vampires Revealed

The most direct threat to Bella and Edward in “Eclipse” (other than a certain werewolf trying to come between them) is Victoria and her army. Although the vengeful vamp was revealed as a threat in the first teaser, this is the first time her newborn vampires have been revealed on screen. The shots of them pillaging and ravaging Seattle are a nice contrast to the less-effective threats of James (Cam Gigandet), Laurent (Edi Gathegi) and Victoria over the past two films. The scene when they walk out of the water is particularly chilling.

The Werewolf Vs. Vampire Battle

Given all the hype the “Eclipse” castmembers have been building about the final battle sequence in the film, it’s not surprising that it was included in this trailer. What is surprising is just how much of it was included, which means that it’s sure to be a long and violent battle royale.

Bella’s Engagement Ring

In a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it moment, Bella’s engagement ring was revealed in the first teaser trailer last month. Fortunately, this new trailer allows a little more time for fans to gawk over the massive ring Edward presents to Bella, even adding an extremely quick shot of Jacob (Taylor Lautner) angrily punching his work table, before we get sucked back into watching Victoria trying to escape from Edward.

Before and After the Tent Scene

It would have been asking too much for Slade to include shots from the actual human/vampire/werewolf sleepover in today’s “Eclipse” trailer, but he was nice enough to include a couple moments of events surrounding the infamous tent scene. First Jacob is seen standing shirtless in the snowy mountains, having an angsty moment with Bella at 1:12 (before the tent scene). And then Edward and Bella are confronted by Victoria at 1:16 (after the tent scene). Fortunately, fans will be so distracted by all the other goodies in this trailer that they won’t even notice until a few hundred views later ̵ or now that we pointed it out — what it was missing
