ROBERT PATTINSON appears determined to dampen the ardour of his fans with his sullen turn in romantic drama Remember Me ( E1 Entertainment UK).

He plays a grouchy student who’s lost his way after the death of his brother and hates his businessman father (a decent Pierce Brosnan).

Little happens until, courtesy of a strange plot contrivance, he starts dating a policeman’s daughter (Ally Craig).

It’s made with sincerity but could have done with some serious CPR to jolt it into life.

VERDICT 2/5

“It’s clear that the public loves an ultimate shock and Remember Me’s is both sudden and poignant at the same time, revealing its twist > before the credits roll. Robert Pattinson fans will undoubtedly be the first to relive the moment as it reaches the small screen for its DVD and Blu-ray release.”

Robert Pattinson’s rep has dismissed reports the actor was involved in a minor car accident in California on Saturday following claims he shunted another vehicle as he reversed out of a driveway.

The Twilight hunk is said to have bumped his car into a Kia hatchback parked nearby as he left a friend’s home in Malibu.

The owner of the Kia, Rob Gottschlich, told America’s OK! magazine his vehicle suffered minor damage in the accident but he took it in good humour, saying, “If I had a nice car like a Lexus or something, maybe (I would be concerned), but I’ve got an old Kia. I am going to ask Rob next time I see him for free tickets to the next Twilight film.”

The incident was not reported to local police and a spokesperson for the British actor is adamant the accident never took place, adding, “Robert was pulling out of a parking space after a quiet day in Malibu yesterday and was relentlessly pursued by paparazzi. He has no knowledge of having bumped or damaged another car in the process.”

BEING mobbed every time you leave the house is all in a day’s work for Robert Pattinson.

But for Tate Ellington, who played Robert Pattinson’s on-screen best friend in Remember Me, thousands of screaming fans following you down the street is one helluva terrifying experience.

OK.co.uk’s Nicola McCafferty spent an evening chatting with Tate, the self-effacing actor who starred as Aidan Hall, about what life is like for the Twilight hunk; how tricky it is working with him and how they escaped the hysteria…

What was it like working with Rob on Remember Me, did you guys strike up an instant rapport?

“Yeah I think so [I hope so]! I met Rob at the screen test and luckily I wasn’t too nervous that day as I was like I probably won’t get the job so…

“But when I got the job and I met him again, he was automatically as nice as can be and I had to make a point to be more talkative as I can be really shy, and Rob had a bit of shyness too.

“I was happy he wasn’t like this big jerk coming into the room and he was utterly always so humble and nice about everything.”

You played Rob’s best friend in the movie, did you guys spend time getting to know each other in preparation?

After I got the job we had a couple of times where we would go to the hotel where he was staying and get to know each other.

“We sat around and had a beer and just chatted – it was good.

“I felt very comfortable with him from the get go. And I met Emilie de Ravin not long after, and automatically we were all jerking around!”

You had just finished a stint on Broadway with actor Matthew Broderick when you got the Remember Me job. Were you used to working with big Hollywood stars by the time you met the cast?

“Oh yeah! I was pretty terrified! Initially I was really excited when I found out who was gonna be in it but everybody was so nice…there was never any reason to be intimidated.”

Were you a Twilight fan before you started working on this movie?

“I was not… I actually made a point not to watch Twilight [when I got the role], but a girl I was dating at the time was an insane fan about it.

“She explained to me all four books, I was like that sounds great I might read that at some point! She was also a Harry Potter fan and got me hooked on it and when I heard Rob was in it, I was like Oh Cedric Diggory! Oh no wait, Twilight… [laughs]

“I watched Twilight not too long after we finished shooting and I kinda expected it to be a bit girly but it was good – I was like, way to go Rob!”

“At some point I have to watch New Moon – I still haven’t seen it. But it feels weird now – you’re like watching a friend.

Rob quite famously got mobbed by dozens of fans on the New York set… What was that like?

“It was like a running joke [when Rob got mobbed on-set.]

“The producers sort of prepped me, they were like this sort of thing might be happening and I got there the first day and exactly that happened and I was like woah, you weren’t kidding!

“We had to figure out how we were gonna get round it. It was tricky.”

How did Rob cope with all the attention?

“He was so great, I dunno if i could do that everyday, the guy can’t even walk down the street – that would probably throw me.

“But it was hilarious ‘cos everyday you knew exactly when Rob was gonna show up on set, you’d just hear the screams and you’d be like – oh Rob’s coming!

“We always got a kick of that. The crew handled it really amazingly.

“You just kinda got used to it and it was nice – everyday there was just a lot of people there to say hello!”

Did he get a bit freaked out the time?

“Rob was initially a bit… New York is quite an enclosed space but he figured it out.

“[But] he was always so nice to all the fans.

“It was always overnight for him. I think he’s really settling into it now. I think he’s done a great job with it.

“i dunno if I could cope with it… It would freak me out.”

How would you describe your character, Aidan, in the film?

“He’s a complete jerk and anyone would punch this guy in the face, but regardless of all the things he says and does he has the best intentions.

What drew you to the role?

“When I read the script I was like, I want this guy to show through in the moments where he can.

“He has a big heart and he feels things for this people. Tyler is like his adopted family and he’s always trying to look out for his friend.

“He’s the kinda guy you can call whenever you’re in any sort of trouble and he’ll be there in a heartbeat.”

Dear Ted:
You said, “Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart are together. It may not be in the conventional sense we’re all used to (trust, they’re hardly a normal couple), but it is what it is.” So…what is it? Care to elaborate?
—Leigh

Dear Unorthodox Lovin’:
Well, for starters, do you and your significant other spend most of your time filming on opposite ends of the country?

Dear Ted:
I’m 29 years old and enjoyed the Twilight movies but am by no means a Twi-hard. Most of my Twilight news is from you while I’m getting my gossip fix. It’s been weeks since I saw Eclipse, yet last night I had a dream that I was having sex with Taylor Lautner. What do you make of this?
—Subconscious Team Jacob

Dear Dodgy Dream:
I think you should go back into the dream and make sure you didn’t miss the opportunity to bang R.Pattz, too. Otherwise, what a stupid choice!

Dear Ted:
Who do you think is the cuter couple, Robsten or Zanessa? Also who do you think will last longer? I’ll bet on Zanessa.
—Alyson

Dear Watch Your Back:
You’re about to unearth the fury of a horde of Twi-hards with virtual pitchforks. Better go and hide—and make room for me, since I might, might, be able to be talked into making bets on Zac and Vanessa. Even though Robsten are so much hotter, and hotter for, each other.

Dear Ted:
I have to admit that I’m having Robsten withdrawals. I know you feel it too: the shaking, the tremors, the excessive drinking (maybe that’s just me). So I know Kristen’s somewhere working and Rob’s somewhere working, yada yada yada. Whatever. But I want to hear about some real honest to goodness “couple time”!
—Bubbleyumsteph

Dear Ya Got Some Medicine for That?
Relief will come eventually, sugarpie, but not soon. The two are really hard at work, and there’s not much goss to be said for their away time from each other. In due time!

Backlash is as much a part of celebrity as well-rehearsed stories for Leno and Letterman. Some spectators consider it the price of admission. If an attractive young man or woman wishes to make millions of dollars in the public eye, they say, he or she must expect that public eye to turn away from time to time — or even glare.

And so it is that everything becomes amplified beyond recognition. If a movie fails, the leading actress is buried by the press and on message boards. If she’s been the subject of unflattering tabloid stories, she can expect to land on Worst Dressed Lists or in Chelsea Handler’s quips. We can’t wait for the too-smug actor to get his comeuppance, or to be caught scratching himself on TMZ.

When momentum is in someone’s favor, we conveniently overlook flaws. When we wish to rip them down, no fissure is too small.

The problem is: The media often portray events as they didn’t happen, in order to fit the narrative their readers been instructed to follow.

Robert Pattinson — like hundreds of other famous people — is hounded relentlessly by paparazzi. Surprisingly, just like everyone else, he doesn’t care for it.

Some celebs have handled their frustration with violence.

Others scream and carry on.

It’s not the best route to go, and it surrenders some of the moral high ground to the predatory photographers.

X17Online.com is pretending that Robert Pattinson made similar mistakes when pestered by paparazzi over the weekend. He supposedly “yells” at a photog after committing a “hit & run.” He got “pissy,” sneers the site.

It’s a total misrepresentation.

There’s no hitting and running. There’s no yelling. There’s no prima donna hissy fit. He barely even raises his voice.

Pattinson looks frustrated and exhausted, and he repeatedly — politely — asks the paps not to follow him. The outlet even provides video of the incident, and it shows Pattinson being completely civil.

You can even hear a photographer praising Pattinson as “such a nice guy.”

X17 asks viewers to ignore what they see in favor of a more dramatic, sensational confrontation. Consider that Pattinson is literally forced to pull off the California Pacific Highway to ask for some privacy and to ask nearby police officers (presumably) whether they can help. When the harassment begins, it’s still light outside. By the end, it’s dark. It’s ridiculous.

Yet X17 wants the takeaway message to be: If Pattinson can’t handle harassment, he shouldn’t be a celebrity. And if he does handle himself like a gentleman, just misrepresent events to make it look like he didn’t.

Shameful.

Spunk-Ransom.com is now paparazzi-free. This video pushed me to change our policy. WARNING – THE FOLLOWING LINK IS THE REAL TIME FOOTAGE OF THE PAPARAZZI FOLLOWING ROB. http://tiny.cc/g4oc0 I don’t like seeing him feel violated. He was followed the entire day and did not feel he could return to his home without someone following him. This is something I can no longer feel comfortable supporting.

It will take some time to clean out the site of  paparazzi pictures. However, I am committed to cleaning them off the site and in our picture gallery.  Thank you for your patience and continued support of Spunk-Ransom.com.

UPDATED: An additional clause was added,

Television media outlets such as E! News, Extra, Entertainment Tonight, and Access Hollywood are not paparazzi businesses. Therefore, because their purpose is to merely report the news, it is not covered under our paparazzi-free policy.

Always refer to the sidebar under RESPECT ROB for the latest on our position surrounding our policy.
