@lisamarks of Australia’s “Daily Telegraph” Talks to Reese Witherspoon & She Mentions Rob

Witherspoon started modelling at seven and had her first major acting gig at 14, which makes her one of Hollywood’s most enduring success stories. In short, she has the kind of life that’s hard not to envy.

All of that surely pales into comparison for the millions of young women who’d just about sell their grandmothers to get as up close and personal as she did with her Water for Elephants co-star Robert Pattinson, who plays Jacob, her love interest.

Witherspoon admits her heart went out to Pattinson, who shot to fame playing brooding Edward Cullen in The Twilight Saga, as he was relentlessly followed by legions of fans during their filming.

“The amount of attention Rob receives is just not normal. I’ve never seen anything like the fervour of his fans, and I’ve been around a lot of moviestars,” she says. “They’d line the streets and wait for 14 hours just to catch a glimpse of him. It’s crazy, but he handles it very well. We worked very long days, and even late at night, he’d stop his car as he left the set, wind down the window and sign autographs. It was lovely of him, and indicative of the kind of man he is.”

This is the second time the two stars have worked together. Somewhat ironically considering how youthful Witherspoon looks, Pattinson played her son in the 2004 film Vanity Fair, and the pair have been friends for years.

“He’s such a good guy,” the New Orleans native says in her gentle Southern drawl. “So lovely and intelligent. He’s just a well-raised, quiet Englishman.”

Aside from Pattinson, Witherspoon had another impressive and intimidating co-star on Water for Elephants. Based on Sara Gruen’s acclaimed bestseller, the film is set in a circus in the 1930s, and the petite actor describes her first meeting with Tai the elephant – who weighs 4000kg and stands 2.74m – as a shock.

I’ve only included the part of the interview where Rob is mentioned, but to read more click here.
