The broadcast premiere of Twilight was the #4-ranked program of the night in P18-49 and was #2 in W18-49 and #3 in W18-34. The combo of AHS and Twilight ranked FX #1 for the night in basic cable in P/W/M18-49, P/W18-34, and W25-54 … and #2 in M18-34 and P25-54.

You mention the performers experimenting in the dailies. I think it would be fair to call you an actor’s director — the films you’ve directed have gotten stars Oscar nominations five times, and Jennifer Hudson won — but Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner grew up on these movies; they’re maybe set in their ways and what they think the characters are. How do you come in and direct them for this last run?
I did not find any of them set in their ways. It felt like they were eager to explore. Part of the advantage I had was that after a lot of anticipation in three movies, now a huge number of things happen. These characters change so dramatically. When you think of where Bella stars, which is where she’s been for all three movies, and by the end she’s this fierce warrior-hunter-maternal-goddess. All the steps that get her there — it’s a huge amount of change. The same for Jacob and Edward. They grow up more than anything.

Sure, some of them will only admit to loving classics such as “Citizen Kane” or “It’s a Wonderful Life,” but the more honest among them will hit LIKE on pages for movies that aren’t really Oscar material.

‘Twilight’ saga
I get teased mercilessly by my family, co-workers and (some) friends for this, but I stand by my love for the entire “Twilight Saga” franchise. Are the movies cheesy? For sure! Is the acting good? Not particularly. The special effects eye-popping? Hardly. But the films, like the books, transport my 30-something self back to my silly high-school girl days, when love was all-consuming and the only thing that mattered. I’d argue maybe even farther back, to a little girl’s dreams of a rich and gorgeous Prince Charming who worships every little thing about her and makes life perfect. But beyond the romance, there are also the vampires … those studly vampire guys with their chiseled abs, amazing strength, beautiful smiles and sparkly skin. And brought to life by Robert Pattinson, Kellan Lutz and Jackson Rathbone? Swoon! But let us never speak of the smelly werewolves. (Team Edward!) See you at the theater on Nov. 18!
