When we sat down to talk about The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1 with star Robert Pattinson, we naturally brought attention to the elephant in the room: the hotly debated sex scenes.

Those marital relations have some pretty severe consequences too, with Bella becoming pregnant with a half vampire-half human child. Turns out we weren’t the only ones a little taken aback by this turn of events.

“When the final book came out, I was like ‘She’s not even thinking outside the box anymore. She’s broken the whole box!’” Pattinson told us.

“She went all out on the last one. It’s almost a different genre of movie.”

So, was Pattinson daunted by the prospect of the sex scenes? “It’s funny,” he added. “People talk about sex scenes in the book, but there aren’t actually any. It’s all in people’s imagination. They’re like ‘It’s so hardcore,’ but it always fades to black. It just shows bits of the aftermath.”

Not that that filmmakers will be taking that approach. “You have to show something!” Pattinson asserts.

“You can’t fade to black in the movie because people would go insane!

“It’s strange trying to do a singular event which everyone is expecting. At the end of the day, watching other people having sex is never going to be that spectacular. Hopefully it’ll be good. There’s so much hype. You’re like ‘God, I hope this lives up to it.’”

The saucy scenes are the least of Pattinson’s worries though, with the fang-to-placenta caesarean causing a much weightier concern. “It was horrible,” he admitted.

“Insanely graphic and the most nerve-racking thing about the whole shoot.”

The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1 opens on 18 November 2011.

Robert asked how it is to play an expectant father in Breaking Dawn. He answers that have children in the film was the most fun part. “The baby was covered in fake blood,” he says.
Now ask a journalist who thinks that Robert Edwards is a free pass in the movies. Robert replied that he would not think of using something free pass. “He would give it away to someone,” says Ashley.
It was really cool to shoot the wedding scenes, says Ashley.
It was a real priest, says Pattinson. “Now we’re really married in real life,” he says with a laugh.
Pattinson responds to the scene that was most difficult to record. “The first sex scenes” he says. “There were so many who had an opinion about it. It was like 20 people in the room.”
“Both Kristen and I was amazing how our bodies looked like,” said Robert to shoot the first sex scenes.
What did you dream about when you were younger? Pattinson responds to. “I liked fantasy, Tolkien and stuff.”
Now the press conference ending! Now waiting for upload to the event tonight! I’ve heard that fans queued since 07 this morning, so people said to be stoked!

Dear Ted:
What is your honest opinion about how the Breaking Dawn tour has been lined up? I’m talking about talk shows and the whole nine yards. I’m really glad the cast will all be on Ellen together, but what’s up with the Jimmy Kimmel show? Rob, Kristen and Taylor will all be on the show but on different days. I really don’t feel like recording three different episodes. I have to watch all of my shows after my kids go to bed. I have to ask, is everything still OK between Rob and Kristen?

Dear Late-Night Catfight:
Simple, babe: more exposure. If the Summit folks can book three nights of promo instead of just one, why not? More appearances on the late-night scene mean more eyeballs that may head to the theatre to see Breaking Dawn. It has nothing to do with Robsten.

Forget how Edward Cullen gets it up. How does he get it down? Remember he is as—and I am quoting here—hard as marble. Bella’s lips conform around his. So, ouch really. Plus he is “wintry cold.” Again, ouch. Finally, it, I mean he, sparkles for goodness sake! Why has no one addressed this?
