Let’s pile on one last time and let that be the end of it as I now present my personal top ten list of the Worst Movies of 2011.

As I noted in Part One yesterday, I didn’t see all of the films many are calling the worst of the year, films such as Jack and Jill, Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chipwrecked, I Don’t Know How She Does It, Big Mommas: Like Father, Like Son, Beastly and Bucky Larson: Born to Be a Star. I did, however, see my fair share of duds and of those I saw, these are the ten that top that list.

If you missed Part One, that’s where I essentially list my Dishonorable Mentions and I will link to it again at the end of this piece. For now, let’s dive into the sewer and see what we find amidst the sludge.

8.

The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1

It feels like piling on any time I talk about how bad the Twilight films are. It feels as if I’m just part of a group think where it’s become safe territory to slam something that only a few people seem to enjoy. Yet, there seems to be an understanding among those that aren’t hardcore fans of the franchise and those that are. That understanding is: The Twilight movies truly are crap.

I had a conversation with a fan of the Twilight movies over the holidays and she agreed, this is a terrible movie, but that won’t stop her from watching it again and/or watching Part 2 on November 16, 2012. There’s something reassuring in the knowledge that people are able to separate quality from crap and at the same time admit they don’t mind how bad it is, just as long as their favorite characters are on the screen. I can understand that. It’s still a truly awful movie, but I can understand.

Review Pull Quote: “Audiences should be urged to poke fun at what they see on screen to make the passing time more enjoyable.”

And now, here is a little something someone sent to me recently that I got a kick out of.

1. He’s had the most amazing 12 months ever. In addition to being crowned King of the Box Office, Pattinson managed to romance Kristen Stewart, give back to his fans, host awards shows, give Taylor Lautner, Ashton Kutcher and probably a billion other dudes permanent inferiority complexes … the list goes on.

2. He’s so adorably humble and self-deprecating. When he found out about this latest award, I bet he just ran his fingers through that gorgeous hair and mumbled something bashfully in that sexy accent. Swoon!

3. He’s only just begun. Besides Breaking Dawn: Part 2, RPattz has some amazing films slated to hit the big screen in 2012, like Cosmopolis and Bel Ami. And also, The Legend of the Hot Guy Who Sat Around Naked All Day Long. (Fine, I made that one up. Can’t blame a girl for dreaming.)

4. He can be credited with saving countless marriages worldwide. Okay, I don’t have any stats to back that one up, but I’m just saying. A little fantasizing in the bedroom can go a long way, can’t it ladies?

5. He recently discovered the cure for cancer, developed the perfect sustainable fuel, and declared world peace. (Fine, I made those up too. But I can totally see all of those things happening. At least in a movie.)

Are they right on? Or do you think they have missed some major points?

Bel Ami

Twilight’s Robert Pattinson plays an unscrupulous journalist on the make in 19th century Paris in an adaptation of Guy de Maupassant’s novel directed by Declan Donnellan and Nick Ormerod (from theatre company Cheek by Jowl.) Long before phone hacking and the Leveson Inquiry, the film shows that journalists were using the most devious means to get ahead.

Release date: 2 March

Cosmopolis

A multi-millionaire young stockbroker heads across Manhattan in a limousine to have a haircut. It may not sound like much of a starting point for a film but David Cronenberg’s screen version of Don DeLillo’s novel promises to be a sleek and disturbing satire about narcissism and modernity. Robert Pattinson stars as the self-absorbed anti-hero.

Release date: TBC

Alright, I confess – I watched Twilight this past weekend. Besides enjoying it a bit more than I should have {oh Rob Pattinson and your brooding stare}, I was quite taken by the amazing set the production team crafted for the wedding scene.

Lush florals hanging down create the perfect canopy for this wedding scene that blended elegance and nature so perfectly. This idea need not stay on the silver screen as I’ve been seeing more and more floral designs heading upwards and creating that instant wow factor. Here are just a few real weddings and events to inspire you!

Google Translate:

11. Robert Pattinson
Beautiful, charming, intelligent, funny! Rob Pattz was another actor who this year had a chance to surprise us with another character. Like Jacob, in “Water for Elephants,” we saw something very different vampire Edward in “Breaking Dawn”. The penultimate film of the saga premiered in theaters in November and was a box office record.

This is important to know due to the fact that Summit still has “Breaking Dawn Part 2″ to be released.

“Twilight” studio Summit Entertainment is still deep in negotiations with two potential buyers, but won’t reach an agreement with either before the end of 2011.

The Santa Monica firm remains in talks to sell itself to fellow studio Lions Gate Entertainment and private equity firm Colony Capital, a co-owner of Miramax, people familiar with the matter but not authorized to speak publicly said.

Executives at Summit had hoped to close a deal by the end of the year because of certain tax and financial advantages, two of the people said, but that has virtually no chance of happening by Saturday.

Instead, talks with both parties have slowed down during the holiday season and are expected to pick back up next week. Summit is likely still looking to close a deal as soon as possible, as it is currently in a good position with one more “Twilight” sequel yet to be released and a significant pile of cash that, one knowledgeable person said, will be distributed to investors in the event of a sale.

Both Lions Gate and Colony are said to be offering about $350 million to $400 million to acquire Summit, along with the assumption of roughly $200 million in debt.

If Lions Gate were to take control, Summit chiefs Rob Friedman and Patrick Wachsberger are expected to run the merged studio’s motion picture group, sources close to the negotiations said. If Colony, which is led by billionaire investor Tom Barrack, were to be the winning bidder, Summit would likely be merged with Miramax. In that scenario, it’s likely that Friedman and Wachsberger would run the combined company, possibly alongside Miramax CEO Mike Lang.

FILM FINALE OF THE YEAR: Twilight Breaking Dawn – Part 2

In 2011 we bid farewell to Harry Potter and next year it’s time for the Twilight cast to take their final spin on the red carpet. Even more than the film finale, we can’t wait to see Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner light up the premieres one last time.
