The end is near for “Twilight” fans.
“The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn — Part 1” collectors edition DVD went on sale last night, and dedicated fans of the vampire series flocked to Target in Woburn.
Twihards began lining up as early as 7:30 p.m. to reserve their place in line. Four Target stores in Massachusetts extended their hours and began selling the DVD at midnight.
Perhaps more enticing than the DVD release itself was the promise of the sneak peak of “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn — Part 2” that Bella and Edward fans were treated to.
Tracy Capoccia, 32, and her friends scoped out the store at 5:30 p.m. for a line before returning closer to 8 p.m.
“I’m looking forward to the ‘Breaking Dawn — Part 2’ clip,” said Capoccia, a staunch Team Edward supporter. “I don’t think it’s over. Stephanie (Meyer) has more to write.”
Beating her to the front of the line were cousins Natalie LaFleur, 14, of Willmington and Kristen Bruce, 24, of Reading.
“It’s just the story. You can relate to Bella so much,” said LaFleur, who was wearing a replica of Bella’s engagement ring.
“As a Twihard, committing is key,” Bruce said.
Women eager to watch Bella and Edward’s nuptials weren’t the only ones in the snaking line.
Peter Kalanzis of Wayland was near the front of the line.
“I’m a dedicated dad,” said Kalanzis, father of an 11-year-old fan.
The final film in the series, “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn — Part 2” is due in theaters this fall.
