So, What Does the American Media Think of the “Bel Ami” Trailer?

VeryAware

It’s enough sizzle to make you swoon!

CinemaBlend

If there’s one thing that all of us have learned from the Twilight saga it’s not that tweens like vampires, but that every woman in the world wants to have sex with Robert Pattinson.

The Wrap

And, judging from the trailer, spends most of his time outside the bedroom scowling with ruminative intensity. Nice work if you can get it.

Indiewire

Well, U.K. RPatz fans have already had their chance to swoon at the actor getting all period-drama on them, and now it’s America’s turn. A new trailer for “Bel Ami” has landed, showing the hunky vampire suck the cash and dignity out of a bunch of women in old timey England.

 Collider

Call me crazy, but I don’t really find the tale of a liar wooing a bevy of women to be that interesting.  I’m sure Pattinson’s fans will get a kick out of watching his bedroom eyes for two hours, but I’m eager to see the actor stretch his dramatic chops on a project that isn’t focused entirely on sex (or the lack thereof).

Hollywood

To be fair, this role does seem to have more depth than a lot of what the world has seen Pattinson do. So, if you like him in a love polygon, but you also want to see him test out his chops, Bel Ami is the movie for you.

Hollywood Gossip

We know, we know: how lucky are Christina Ricci, Uma Thurman and Kristin Scott Thomas?!?

The Hollywood Reporter

It also shows him without a shirt, which certainly should sell a few more tickets.

FlickCast

This is exactly the kind of movie Pattinson should be doing right now, it allows him to capitalize on his ‘cinematic hearthrob’ status, but it clearly gives him a lot of character to play with.

I’ll give it a look, if only for the supporting cast, and to see Pattinson in much better confines than Twilight.

IAmRogue

The franchise that made him a household name put his high cheekbones into the dreams of young ladies everywhere closes out this year with The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2, and Pattinson’s certainly making interesting choices post-Cullen.

NextMovie

While it remains to be seen whether this period piece of timeless literature holds its own in today’s theaters, one thing is certain: Pattinson looks mighty fine in a top hat.

Oology

The trailer is OK, I don’t hate it, but it’s still no Cosmopolis.

The Stir

After watching the newly released trailer for Bel Ami, I’m seriously jumping out of my seat with anticipation of the premiere of the film this summer.

Reelz

And if the collage of steamy scenes isn’t enough to draw in the Twilight crowd, the trailer ends with a pale Georges strolling dramatically through a doorway into the light, bringing to mind Edward’s entrance to Volterra’s square in New Moon. We’re surprised they didn’t find a way to add a few CGI sparkles to his 19th-century attire.
