We’re not shy about our vampire obsession around here. And even as angels and werewolves and dystopian battlefields take over the screens and bookshelves, it doesn’t look like sexy bloodsuckers are going anywhere. Sure, they experience a bit of boom and bust, but a look back at the last 100 years in pop culture proves their undying staying power. In 2011, our blood was stirred by a nice crop of undead seducers, from Eric and Bill on True Blood to Damon and Stefan on The Vampire Diaries to the entire morally upstanding Cullen family. There were others who leapt from the pages of books whose racy covers we sometimes had to keep hidden — Bloodlines, the spinoff of YA series Vampire Academy, made its debut; Jeaniene Frost’s Night Huntress series is still going strong, and in City of Fallen Angels, the latest from Cassandra Clare’s Mortal Instruments series, vampire Simon went from best friend to hot commodity. There were even a couple of “nonfiction” vamps who made it onto our 2011 list.
Before you check out our 25 faves, watch who such celebrity vampire experts as True Blood’s Joe Manganiello and Twilight’s Elizabeth Reaser, and non-experts like Andrew W.K., Robin Thicke and Questlove would nominate for Vampire of the Year. Because we just declared that a thing.
Now, take a look at our top 25, vote on your faves and let us know in the comments if we missed any of your favorites.

Making a film is not an easy process. There are thousands of moving pieces, scheduling complications, budgetary restrictions, off-days, weather, and the need to maintain constant continuity. But all of those problems become even more intense when you’re shooting two films at the same time, which is exactly what director Bill Condon did while helming The Twilight Saga – Breaking Dawn: Part 1.
I recently had the opportunity to sit down with the filmmaker one on one not only to talk about the two simultaneous productions, but also many other details surrounding the franchise. Check out my interview with Bill Condon below in which he talks about the double edge sword of extremely loyal fans, the involvement of author Stephanie Meyer during production, and the decision of where to cut the book in half.
This is something that I want to ask about just to start, which is that the fans are incredibly passionate about these films, the books, the characters everything about it. And obviously with that fever pitch excitement, where it has to be, like, well it has to feel really great.
Right.
But is there a double edged sword to it as well?
I think y’know, well you want to be true to the books but you also want to be true to how you visualize them, how you see them. So in a way, yes. Y’know, I started a relationship with them early on. It was always interesting and occasionally helpful. But it was, at a certain point you’re making your movie, and you just hope that it intersects with what they dreamed about when they read it.
Some people emailed us asking about where this cute gif came from. It’s a behind the scenes from The Summer House. According to the source, it’s in the Robsessed DVD.
It’s from a small part where Daisy Gili, The Summer House director, and Anna MacDonald, producer, talk about Rob. I ripped that part.
We definitely would not have picked up on that information from that particular DVD because we boycotted their dvd after the individuals behind the website to promote this DVD stole information off various Rob fan sites (including our own) and claimed it as their own. So, we definitely don’t encourage you to buy this DVD. Thanks RPLife for ripping the video and for sharing some screen captures featured below:
R-Pattz walks the red carpet at the premiere of Water For Elephants with Reese Witherspoon, and then hooks up with Kristen Stewart at the after-party! Plus the Twilight hottie talks end of Breaking Dawn on Today.
While Steve was busy snapping photos at the American Film Market (AFM), he grabbed a shot of a surprising poster for Love & Distrust. The film boasted a star-studded cast featuring Robert Pattinson, Robert Downey Jr., Sam Worthington, Amy Adams, and James Franco. Somehow, we had never reported on or even heardof this movie. Of course, there was the standard note in the corner about “Credits Not Contractual”. They may not be contractual, but they can certainly be misleading. Hit the jump to check out the poster, and to learn why you’ve probably never heard of this movie and why buyers should beware.
After doing a bit of research, I discovered that Love & Distrust is already available to own on DVD in UK. Here’s the official synopsis:
Featuring a host of Hollywood A-listers, including Robert Pattinson (The Twilight Saga, Remember Me), Sam Worthington (Avatar, Clash of the Titans), Robert Downey Jr. (Iron Man, Sherlock Holmes) and Amy Adams (Sunshine Cleaning, Enchanted), Love & Distrust is a heartfelt tale of the passions and perils of love in all its forms. Split into five stories that focus on the lives of a group of beautiful yet troubled twenty-somethings, Love & Distrust explores the dark heart of romance, the secrets we can never tell and the heartache it can cause. Battling temptation and the pull of seduction, the fight for love can never be easy.
But the reader reviews tell a different story:
KJ 79 says:
I bought this collection of 5 short films due to the fact that Robert Pattinson and Robert Downey Jr starred. However, they appeared for approximatley 5 seconds each! Really wish I had not wasted my money.
GLD1967 says:
I bought this DVD of 5 short films only because Robert Pattinson and Robert Downey Jr starred in it. However, they appeared for approx 5 seconds each and i was HUGELY disappointed! I really do wish I had’t have bothered or even wasted my money! Just be warned, … its not what you expect it to be !!! G.x
indanthrone says:
This is a compilation of 5 movies. One of which is “The Summer House” With a short appearance by Robert Pattinson. The DVD has quite a misleading description and cover. Makes it look like Rob is starring in a film with Robert Downey et al. MMM. So the only part Rob has is in it is the short role he had in “The summer house”. Just letting people know who may have it already.
In all fairness, the word “distrust” is in the title. Here’s the poster Steve found at AFM. Click on the image to see a larger version:
We get questions about “Love and Distrust” all the time because it is listed on the IMDB in a misleading fashion. Good work Collider for catching false advertising! Then, go see “The Summerhouse” with Rob!
