@AdeleStew:

Pattinson, who’s breathtaking talent shows even in a role of young vampire, creates an image of the entire generation..”#CosmopolisReview

Wonderful actor Pattinson creates an image of the entire generation…#Cosmopolis is impenetrable and expressive…” also 4 stars

Cronenberg’s latest films from the point of view of thought and influence could not compare with his “Crash” “The Fly” and “Dead Zone” but in Cosmopolis the “action Psychologist” shows his previous might. In the screen adaptation of the novel by Don DeLillo-a post modernist novelist (or American umberto eco) he creates the image of modern world- the world with every technological comfort but which is full of violence. Protesting against universal functionality/purposefulness is a young billionaire-never leaving Manhattan, in just 24 hours he loses all his material and social assets and acquires a real “self”. And wonderful actor -Pattinson, whose talent showed even playing a young vampire, creates the image of a whole generation of baby boom children-young people feeling they should be billionaires just by the right of birth in the environment of “Golden Billion”. Cosmopolis- , expressive, gloomy/impenetrable without illusions -it mostly reminds us of Edvard Munch’s painting “The Scream” and you should agree that not often do we feel like comparing modern films with real pieces of art.

Christine noted that the legend at the bottom of the article shows four stars equaling brilliant/excellent and Cosmopolis received 4 stars.

Cue the music from “All About Eve.” The reigning King and Queen of the Croisette, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, may be overshadowed on the red carpet this week by younger, rising cinematic royalty: Kristen Stewart and Rob Pattinson.

Stewart, 22, and Pattinson, 26, are making their first appearance at Cannes with two gritty and hip films that could help them break out of the velvet coffin of the blockbuster “Twilight” franchise.

Stewart plays Marylou in the long-awaited movie version of Jack Kerouac’s classic “On the Road,” (above) and Pattinson goes way against his usual good guy type in David Cronenberg’s sexy, violent “Cosmopolis” (below).

“I’m looking for more,” drawls a nude Pattinson, reclining below a half-naked woman pointing a gun at him in the ‘Cosmopolis’ trailer. “Flip the switch. Show me something I don’t know.”

The supercouple smackdown, which begins Tuesday with the premiere of Pitt’s new movie, “Killing Me Softly,” is already being speculated about breathlessly in the French tabloids.

“Les Robsten ou Les Brangelina: Who will win the Palme du Couple?” asks Adobuzz, a French entertainment news site. “Let the battle begin!”

To some Cannes regulars, the idea that the sullen Stewart and her once-secret boyfriend Pattinson could rival the majestic Jolie-Pitts is laughable. Sure, they’re a real-life couple who met on the set of a movie like Brad and Angelina, but there, say detractors, the comparison ends.

“Nobody can compete with Brange,” says Lainey Lui who writes the popular and snarky Lainey Gossip website. “Every journalist I know here is going to be up at the crack of dawn to make sure to get into the screening of Brad’s film and to track them all day long. Brad and Angelina play us all so well and they continue to play us. No one else can make their kind of headline. There just isn’t this level of excitement with Rob and Kristen.”

Or is there? Another school of thought suggests that the bloom is off the Jolie-Pitt gorgeous-globetrotting-philanthropic-superstar-parents-of-six brand and that Cannes is ripe for fresh blood like Robsten. The younger couple together earned $40 million between May 2010 and May 2011 compared to the Jolie-Pitts’ combined salary of $50 million, according to Forbes magazine – and Stewart alone made more money ($34 million) than either Brad or Angelina in the last 12 months.

“Kristen and Rob are hot on their heels and have a huge and much younger fan base that Brad and Angelina would kill for,” says longtime British celebrity journalist Jen Paul who now edits the European entertainment news site Bohomoth.

“Kristen especially has a massive following. Even her bodyguard has a fan page.

The author’s opinion on Rob is bolded & in italics below!:

It’s a simple fact that David Michôd is not yet a household name. It’s another simple fact that if Robert Pattinson’s name was any more household, I could se it to wash my dishes. While we at the Complex are doing everything in our admittedly meager power to make Michôd a name the world will revere, it is yet another simple fact that joining his name to Pattinson’s has much more of a chance of making that happen.

And thus, we have more news about The Rover, Michôd’s next film, which also features Robert Pattinson. As we reported earlier in the month, The Rover is set in the not-too-distant future, and a man is pushed too far when a gang of thugs steals his car and he is forced to hunt them down. And today, the news has come from Cannes that film distributors FilmNation will be getting the flick into U.S. theaters as well as those in most of the rest of the world. So we can rest a bit easier: David Michôd’s impending world domination is that much more assured.

The synopsis reported in Deadline seems careful not to name names, but again as we reported before, Guy Pearce is slated to star and Robert Pattinson will play one of the car thieves. The synopsis in today’s press release does mention that Eric, Pearce’s character, enlists the help of a character named Reynolds, “the naïve simpleton member of the gang left behind in the bloody chaos of the gang’s most recent escape.”

Now I don’t want us to get ahead of ourselves, but I’d be very, very interested in seeing Pattinson sink his teeth into that particular role. If the buzz on his work in the forthcoming Cosmopolis is at all accurate, Bob does some pretty convincing pretend-time playing a character other than the romantic leads he’s made his name with. And to play a character that also goes against type in The Rover could have similar, exciting results. Like I say, this is pure conjecture on my part, but if anybody can help Pattinson pull it off, it’s David Michôd.

Stay tuned to this channel for any and all further Rover developments

@larry411 tweeted,

So I’d been discussing the possibility (or not) of #Cosmopolis being at #TIFF seeing as how the film would be screening in Canada next month

…as a #TIFF “Premiere” wouldn’t be possible given that the film will have already screened in the same country, which violates the rules.

There are other possibilities, though. For example. they could do some sort of Cronenberg retrospective & show several of his films…

That would allow them to show it without having to worry about the rules. It’s one idea. Anotjer, since #TIFF is technically a year-round

institution which has programs outside the festival, they could theoretically have a North American premiere in Toronto with Cronenberg

in attendance, sponsored/hosted by TIFF. It wouldn’t be part of September’s festival but it would be a “TIFF” event. Just an idea.

Regardless, we KNOW there will be a “TIFF/Cronenberg announcement” shortly. What it is we don’t know. But that much we do know.

Then again…the #TIFF news might have something to do with Brandon Cronenberg’s Antiviral.

We like the way you think Larry!

The following information was provided by sister site RPattz/Robert Pattinson:

At 2.10

she’s talking about Cosmopolis, a film which is highly expected. It’s from David Cronenberg. The film is awesome and it’s impossible to explain the book’s storyline. It’s just art. She can say exactly what it’s about.

She finally said that it’s set in New York and we have future and past moments. It’s about a gloden boy’s fall out and he’s foreseeing his own murder. It’s very confusing. The trailer is so gorgeous sha absolutely wanted to talk about it. There’s a lot of stars in it and there’s the gorgeous and charming Robert Pattinson. He’s from the Twilight Saga.

What’s surprising is the rating of the film because there’s a lot of sex in it.

While our beloved Kristen Stewart may have recently told Elle magazine that she feels “boring,” there’s nothing dull in our eyes about inspiring the S&M saga of the year (yes, we’re talking about Twilight fanfic-turned-bestseller Fifty Shades of Grey).

And now Bella Swan herself has put her voice to Anastasia Steele’s inner goddess. Along with a little help from her Snow White and the Huntsman costars:

In what might surely be the best thing to come out of the SWATH promotional tour, MTV’s Josh Horowitz rounded up the fairy tale flick’s stars to join him on a little segment he calls “Erotica.”

“I haven’t bought it yet. I’m kind of dying to read it,” K.Stew dished about Fifty Shades when asked to read a passage. “I can’t believe I’m doing this!”

And, with that, Kristen, Charlize Theron, Chris Hemsworth and Sam Claflin try their hand at reading aloud E.L. James’ naughty tales. But it’s Kristen, really, who has the deepest connection to the work.

Remember, E.L. has said that her sordid tale of whips and chains was inspired by the Twilight alter-egos of none other than Kristen and BF Robert Pattinson.

“No, I haven’t. And it’s not because—I am interested, I guess,” Kristen revealed when asked whether she had ever ready the erotica inspired by her vampy love life. “It’s just, I’ve not Googled that one yet.”

And she might not be taking to the web anytime soon…

Kristen (who got giggly reading the line “oh-so-happy trail”) joked, “I’ve seen people read this on airplanes and I’m always like ‘Ew…take that blanket off your lap, you freak!’…That’s intense.”

A sentiment her Huntsman—that’d be Mr. Hemsworth—echoed.

“I’m all hot and sweaty!” he laughed after taking a glimpse at some of the pages. “Brilliant. It works!”

And while rumors are currently swirling about a SWATH prequel centered on Chris’ character, the lusty folks among us are probably far more curious if he’ll take on the mysterious Christian Grey. Though, in the interview, he says yes, we’re thinking no.

Especially since he can’t seem to get through a sentence without blushing—a problem we’re positive R.Pattz wouldn’t have!
